Content Editing, Copy Editing and Proofreading
[Lorelei] has done a phenomenal job of ghost writing, editing, integrating and assimilating content so that it has a flow that our entire team is very proud of.... I consider her a real find and a highly trained professional!
-Cindy Speaker, President
In addition to writing content, I sometimes have the privilege of editing other people's writing. This is a duty I take seriously -- the quality of my client's final product is in my hands. I also feel that it's important to use a light touch when editing and explain any drastic changes that are necessary. Like many professional writers and editors, I have strong feelings about certain language issues. However, as an editor, it's my job to make the final product look as polished as possible -- not to impose my style preferences.
As a former journalist, I've worked with AP Style for a decade and counting. However, I can and routinely do apply my clients' house styles, some of which are based on the Chicago Manual of Style. I would actually enjoy learning new stylebooks as well.
Due to the nature of editing, I can't quite link samples here. However, I can certainly give you some of my credits as an editor and copy editor. For a list of comic book editing credits, please see my manga page. Outside of comics, my work has included:
- Copy editing for Edmunds.com and Inside Line, popular Web sites bringing consumers news and reviews about cars and the automotive industry.
- Editing services for contributors to Personal Injury Law: A Reference for Accident Victims, which is described in more detail on my page about ghostwriting services.
- Proofreading for Sacred Spaces, a book published in 2003 on architecture of religious structures in Los Angeles.
- Many years of copy editing and proofreading in my former full-time reporter jobs.
If you have a need you don't see here, I'd still be delighted to help. If you'd like to talk more, please contact me online and tell me about your project.
