Professional Blogging and Marketing for Businesses and Science
In addition to my legal marketing blog work, I also blog professionally about general topics and business. As with the legal blogging, my general-interest blogging is typically marketing-focused and includes search engine optimization and basic HTML (for things like italics and including photos) when the client wants it. For publications, it also includes all the same work you would expect from a print professional, such as rounds of edits and interviewing sources.
One job I'm especially proud of is my work at the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The DOE runs a blog called Energy Empowers, which tells the stories of Americans working toward cleaner and more efficient energy, with and without government involvement. I've written about retrofitting and weatherization, solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydrogen fuel cells and more. I have the honor of being the office's West Coast voice, which means I get to write about clean energy projects in Hawaii, Alaska and the western part of the Lower 48. Here are some highlights of what I've done for the blog:
- Solar cookers to bring hope to earthquake victims, March 2010.
- Alaskan cooperative wins wind award, March 2010.
- Private funds help Bay Area cities retrofit multifamily housing for energy efficiency, March 2010.
- Yellowstone agencies plan to reduce emissions, March 2010.
- Nellis Air Force Base solar array provides a model for renewable energy projects, March 2010.
- Initiative guides Hawaii to the path of energy independence, March 2010
- Arizona teachers prepare students for green economy, March 2010.

- Hydrogen fuel cells provide critical backup power, April 2010.
- Puget Sound communities promote energy efficiency, April 2010.

- World's largest solar energy project heads to Mojave, April 2010.
